On Christmas day it is forecast to be 65 degrees in the hottest year on record. Yet the opinions of the experts on the subject are tossed away by people who are entrusted with our long term security.
Do you as a career politician, have a well researched reason for ignoring the experts on the subject?
I’d think about one, because it’s going to come to a vote, and you will both be asked to decide, and to explain your reason why.
The only oath a President swears to is to uphold the Constitution. A fair question to any would be President, is how would a proposed ban on Muslim immigrants be affected by the first Amendment. In this Constitutionally challenged time, the best thing a person wanting to up hold the Constitution can do is to cite the first amendment, and it would be great to get the presidential candidates on record saying the first amendment.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
The gun violence in this country is epidemic. I do not think gun control alone is a solution, but nothing about the second amendment prohibits regulation on individual gun ownership, and I would like to re- examine the concept of “well-regulated militia”. More human killing devices do not inherently lower violence rates. THe question as to why in this day and age you should feel that some stakes is life or death is crazy, and speaks to larger imbalances in the society. There are spaces for people, we produce enough food, and there are enough people who need stuff to do that we can start doing all of the things that need to be done, and still have time to live well. But we all have to learn how to do so more responsibly, and start with themselves. (I’m looking at you, self)
Any place where human lives, from vehicular accidents, to gun fire are being expended without good reason, are priorities of the society, and the principals which govern it.
